The web site should be sufficient in providing information of a general nature.
More specific information and details should be available to members.
That's how many organizations operate, including AILA.
It's not just about the forums, this could come with a lot more benefits.
I won't be a member at all...because if we make anything mandatory and don't let people realize what we are doing...i think people won't become member...
There are so many (lazy) people who access this site and not even bother to become member...
it is like catch 22...If u charge membership fee we will not give access to any of our forums for guests (it should be otherwise what is the use of taking membership)...if u don't give access to our forums how people know what IV is doing...

You cannot do CP for your spouse unless your I-485 is approved (an immigrant visa number is available for you). That is why the adjustment of status within the US is so much more preferable for most people - it lets you and the spouse get the EAD and start working without waiting for the approval of your GC.
My suggestion for you is to get all the paperwork ready for you and your spouse right now. (Except the medical exam for your spouse which has to be done in the US). The medical exam can be completed in 2 days.
Also, there is a chance that the dates will still remain current for the Aug visa bulletin, since the bulletin will get published by the middle of July, and the USCIS will not have an accurate idea of how many applications they will be getting in July. It looks like the retrogression will hit in either Sep or Oct but with USCIS we never know.

IV has to priorotize before going to a lobbyist, with very very few contributions made, its very difficult to have everything bundled into a single request.
Its also unfair that L1 has to work for specific company but L1 spouces can work for any company any job, its so funny, when you think H1 has to work for specfic company and only for specfic job, but spouces can work for any compnay any job any salary without any labor department intervention
Immmigration awareness has increased a lot among US voters, when it comes to threat of their jobs being lost, and democratic senators are very much aware of it, hence CIR is no longer their priority.
I am not fighting but YES, my reason to join IV was to find justice to the H-4 not being able to work when L-1 spouses and Agjob spouses (I read this a year ago) could. Although no promises were made from IV, I was surpired today since nothing was ever said regarding no interest in the H-4 cause when many discussion were in place. Here people contribute for their own benefits, I was here for the H-4s, that is why I transcribed part of the conference calls too, so I was somehow a contributer to a cause that doesn't represnt my interests, but I know it represents the interests of the unmarried folks, or married to IT spouses folks.

Long as you are married before your 485 is approved you should be ok. What is your PD and category?
One hint they give you is when they send the fingerprinting (FP) notice. You can't be approved without that. And after FP it takes any where from 3 - 6 months.
I am getting married in Jan 2008. can i go ahead and apply now? How to include the wife? will that be a problem.

Some have said that EB is based solely on "merits", and that I am inventing my own intent (of diversity). No I am not, look it up. The per-country quota system is mentioned in the statues even before family or EB is discussed. Family based immigration have the per country quota too (why should an Indian Family suffer for X years, while families of other countries are able to unite sooner), but I dont see that we asked to remove the the quota completely. We only asked for removal in EB (but that is deviating from the topic).
I am not anti-immigrant, just because I argue against some provisions does not make me anti-immigrant (well the same charge will be leveled against us by CIR folks because we dont take/support their approach), and no I dont yet have my GC. I may be whatever, but I will not burn the bridge after crossing it (though I have been known to burn the bridge while I am still on it).
Yes, laws can (and shall) be changed, but can't we discuss the good and bad of what we are changing? I have seen many a legislation that have good intent at heart, but many times ends up without checks and balances (and eventually misused).

Couple of my friends, who have 3 year degrees from India and also have 2 year Masters degree from India, have not been able to apply for EB2. Their lawyers suggested that 3 year degree are a hindernace to get EB2. They both have not tried applying for EB2 and both have active EB3 applications.

Tony, I didn't grow up in India. I am oblivious to its education ways. That said, some of the comments expressed here, is not the way to talk to anyone with an education, no matter what school they graduated. Anyway, I'm done here.
Thats cool. I'm sure no one wanted to attack this member directly, but there is a reason why people jumped on the 3 year degree, especially since this is commerce, for a technology job.
I have worked with europeans with 3 year degrees. Many Russians love the BSc physics
3 year degrees are popular and the first choice in many ROW countries (only). I'll leave it at that.
But I have been involved in hiring for quite a few of the top 10 companies in India, and I do know what qualifications they look for and ones they don't look at.
There are exceptions like bugsbunny mentioned - There are some who come from poor families that can't afford the 4 year degree, even at $100-200 a year.
They are too few Ivy league/reputed 3 year degrees in India, unless the field is arts, Law, economics,...
If you don't qualify in the top 5%, you have to shell out $1000-$2000 a year for engineering degree.
