This process is a mockery of the PD cutoff dates, but that's how it works. If you sent your case on June 28, 07, with July 2, 07 as the printed Receive Data on your receipt, but the case where it finally rested, was entered in their database on Oct. 28, '07 (with a Notice Date soon thereafter), you case will not be looked at, no matter what the PD cutoff date is, unless all cases received before Oct. 28, '07 have been reviewed.

Dear valuablehurdle,
You need to understand why your company is paying only 85K. Your base compensation is 85K, then you have another 10% on top of that as bonus. Also your Health/Dental/vision Insurance will be close to 15K payed by the employer. Also they pay Social Security at 8% base pay + Your H1B and other legal Expense for you and family. This will put your total rewards/compensation well above 100K.
I am not trying to say that your present company is perfect, but these are the common expenses for a company , Thats the reason even if you get hired by the direct client your salary will not increase very much. Companies pay 180$ to the consulting companies for the following reason
1) You are not their employee, so $180 per hour is all they pay ( No benefits, No H1b Legal hassles etc)
2) They Hire consultants for a particular project for a set period of time. After the project is over, they can have the consultant "released" from the project.
3) They dont want to hire independent contractors, cos, if the guy leaves in between the project, its the responsibility of the consulting company to replace your position with another qualified person.In your case, they need to find another candidate with your technical expertise, which is not very easy.Very few Companies wants to take that risk.

Which state are we talking about here?
New DL renewal Procedure is a painful process which started August 1, 2006.
The process involves;
1. Visiting a DMV office and they will ask for your documents and give you a case number which you will present to MVI.
2. MVI will investigate your immigration status with USCIS and you will receive a letter after 5-7 days. If there is a problem, it will take upto 9 weeks. This means, you cannot drive until they have verified your legal status in the US.
This is a new procedure and I know a couple of friends who currently cannot drive because they cannot renew their license.

No matter whether you are in EB2 or EB3, if you lose job then you are going back to stone age. So we are all in the same boat. The only hope is to fix the leak.

Recently I returned after a one month trip to India. At DC airport the CBP secondary inspection officer grilled us rough. First he called my wife and asked why did we leave US. She told that since my parents are old and not in good health we visited them. Then he started asking for documents proving it. And told us that without documents he won't let us enter. He went on to say that AP is only on humanitarian basis and unless CBP officer is satisfied with proof they cannot allow AP holder to enter. Finally after convincing him for another 30 min he let us in.
This was a really shocking experience. Are employment based GC's AP supposed to be treated like humanitarian AP? or was the CBP officer over reacting? Gurus please throw some light.

Several years ago i too met a jerk like this in an airport in the southeast. I was entering on H1-B, he kept saying that my employer (a reputed american company) was disloyal etc... as he was processing our paperwork. First he grilled my wife, then he started with me, i just responded to him with a disgusted facial expression.. answered his questions rather curtly when asked, did not respond to his rants. His rants were not framed as a question - so i don't have to answer it. All this lasted a total of 5 to 6 minutes as he was checking and stamping our passports.
BTW, not seeing your family for several years is a "humanitarian" cause. Technically the AP is supposed to be used as a travel permit for difficult situations, but most good Americans know that not seeing family for years is a good enough reason. There are jerks everywhere and type A's, thankfully they are not in the majority.

While some members might have jumped too hard on the whole thing, Some stuff goes unanswered.
1) Why has not USINPAC endorsed IV all this while on their website? Does not USINPAC know any thing about IV?
2) While I understand the importance of fund raisers for politicians, why USINPAC has not involved US citizens of American origin to contribute to the cause? What about grass roots efforts?
3) I dont have the exact statistics, but I am positive that every one out of 2/3 Indians living in the US is plagued by this problem of GC. How come Orgs like USINPAC are not pushing this by all means?
Forget the media mishap and the outrage of some members, if USINPAC really considers Immigration of Highly skilled Indians, they should be doing some thing. I personally am neither defending the outrage of some members nor appreciating it, but most of the Indian American citizen community does not want to be in sync with the plight of Indians immigrating to US.There are various reasons. Most important one as I have seen, Many in the Indian American citizen / Indian Permanent Resident community run consulting companies and they would hate to see these guys slip away from their hands by getting GC's. Fcuk, its like the damn door closes right behind you. I am positive most of those shops will come down to earth if Indian citzens start getting their GC's. May be its time, the Indian American Citizens/ Indian PR's ask themselves, what they really want. Robinder has been a very highly regarded ananlyst and a commentator of indo-us relationship. We needs friends with him and not make enemies. It is a different thing that he is associated with USINPAC and we do not agree with their agenda, approach or the way they misrepresent themselves to be the representatives of Indo community in USA. We have about 2.5 million Indians in USA of which about more than half a million are stuck in this green card mess. Any organization that claims to be a representative of Indian community should have this Green Card reform as a very top priority in their agenda, but it was extremely disappointing for the people fighting for this cause when they approached some of these organizations who could provide just lip service and press releases from their chambers and project that they are on the top of the issue and working hard to get the work done. IV has filled this void for a true grass roots level organization with a huge membership base which is truely global,not just Indian and working in an extremely organzied fashion. I am sure that many of the the organizations envy the way we have built the membership base ( we are not a paid membership org) and have individuals roll up their sleeves, go to the fields across the country and work for this noble cause unlike others who are limited to doing press releases, photo opportunities and advertizing to promote them selves.

This question has been bugging the HECK out of me as well. I mean the only way this makes sense is if 245(i) + EB3 for India >> 245(i) for Mexico. Now from all that i have read/heard/seen, it seems like 245(i) is the major hurdle. Then how is it that EB3 India is stuck and everyone else is moving? The above equation must mean that there is a SIGNIFICANT number of 245(i) cases from India as well. Any thoughts anyone? :confused:

The poor response is because we are not together and we truly do not believe in our goal. With the assumption that 90% of IV members are Indians, I can safely say this is innate in our culture - we want to get the benefit without working for it AND once we get the benefit, we give a damn about the rest of "them". :mad:
Just my 2 cents here: Our culture has its place. Being conservative with our money has served us very well today so let us not disparage it. For raising funds from our community we should have more convincing behavior, actions and arguments. Generating trust and goodwill is very important.
To get peoples' trust it is important to be patient and welcome questions and respect others' views, and always answer in best manner possible. Unfortunately there are a few immature elements that spoil the atmosphere here. Maybe we should have some amount of moderation, to cut out the unwanted speeches

I am suprprised if IV is working towards abiltiy to file 485 and hard country limit...Just want to know how IV is working towards these 2 items...

Can somebody calrify if these options will anyway include in this bill..by means of ammendements...

While we have no guarantees that they will be introduced, one thing I can guarantee, we will fight as hard as we possibly could.

A correspondence Masters from an ACCREDITED university is legit. As I said earlier, if a degree from a Accredited University is invalid than your degree is also invalid. There are tonns of legit US universities offering Online courses --- some examples are University of South Dakota, University of Massachusetts, Northeastern University etc.
I challenge you --- say in a public forum that degree earned through online courses from these universities are bogus . I will make sure to forward that link to these universities and you can spend more time defending a defamation law suit than anything else.

Looks like you are using online degree to support your case as well, that is why you are so pissed off. No matter how loud you shout or how many people you threaten about lawsuits and all that stuff, no one can deny the fact that an online degree does not have much of recognition.
