Here is a suggestion for you:
1) Book a round trip ticket for your wife to fly back immediately. Meanwhile, take an appointment for your wife with a local USCIS cert civil surgeon to take the TB test/vaccine. Take it wherever you can get it -near or far.
2) Get lawyer to draft the RFE response. Submit the doc's report to lawyer as soon as you get it. (most surgeons will give it in a day or two after checking the bump.)
This whole process should be done in less than a week if you can prepare everything else before your wife gets here.
3) Wife flies back and continues with rest of vacation with kids. You can have your Euro vacation at the end too! :)
Downside: Twins will have to be away from Mom for a week.
Upside: Monetary Losses and life disruption cut as short as possible.

I spoke to him yesterday, this is what he told me 'I wrote this letter long back, neither I remember what I asked nor I kept a copy but we can presume I asked about pending I-485 applications, because just asking pending 'applications' for Indians wouldn't have made sense anyway, than it could be any application Citizenship etc, etc..

Thanks for the additional information. In case 1 - can the applicant still retain the priority date if s/he wants to start a new GC process? In other words, does 6 year expiration have any effect on retaining PD?

This is truly unfair where country of birth determined who gets an 'Employment' based greencard before someone else. It can only be fixed by eliminating per-country limits.

They are in similar Finance positions as I (though I am a step senior) had the entire process, from the PERM, to card delivery, completed in 11 and 7 months, respectively. Whilst I am waiting the last 5+ years. It can get you down at times, and feels like living in a constant state of "temporariness". However life does go on :)

hi,
my parents will be travelling to the US in a couple of months, and I was looking for health insurance for them. Based on various forums, looks like US companies are preferable to insurance bought from india (and as per forums, ICICI lombard seems to have the most negative reviews among the indian firms).
Anyways - has anyone used insu buy .com to buy medical insurance for their parents, and had to make a claim? They seem to be an insurance broker -- so the insurance company will be a third party, but they (insu_buy) seems to claim that they will also help out with claims in case of any issues.
Anyone have any experience buying + claiming insurance via ? (and if so, what was the insurance company that sold the claim via ?)
I searched immigration voice forums for "insu buy" but though there are many threads about medical insurance for parents, there doesnt seem to be any mention of -- so any experiences shared will be helpful.

One hour in emergency room (just hello and goodmorning) in public hospital cost $1000.Its a capatilist country and they dont care about people and even citizens.If you come to US then dont get ever sick. I know in Canada and UK taxes are high but when you need services NHS and other agencies are always there to help you and protect you. It takes 1000 days in Canada for parents to get PR and after PR they are all eligible to use Canadian free public health system.20000 pages of new Obama's health care reform and it does nothing regarding pre-existing conditions, immigrants,high deductibles and aged US citizens.Even full time employeed people with employer insurance really have to fight very hard to get their insurance pay for necessary medical services in US.Its because all insurance companies are always looking for bogus and false reasons to just deny even ligitimate claims.
I strongly suggest all indians and immigrants to please dont ever grow old or sick in USA otherwise your American dream will give its real nightmare reality.

I would recommend two forms of IV.
1. Free for all (an immigration help site)
Should contain:
Information that are helpful for others. (Similar to what IV forum does today)
Should not contain:
Any information about our activities or agendas.

Members of different state chapters should be members of this site. Users cannot register themselves on this site. Only state chapter leaders can enroll members.

Information about our activities, agendas, fund drive etc. Members can freely voice their opinions without unwanted visitors ( anti-immigrants ) viewing them.
This would drive up the state chapter enrollment, meanwhile IV will still be a popular site for people seeking help.

Not a single penny has been reimbursed to him for his trips to DC, food and stay in DC or car rental in DC. Sometimes reading posts that say IV core is selfish also disappoints us. People do not know the effort that goes in getting anything done. Your attorneys are right. There is not much advantage. Only gray area is the duration between the expiry of your I94 based on AP and the actual renewal of your H1. But many people have been through this and they renew with out any problem.
Another issue is the requirement of some eurpean countries for a Transit visa if you dont have the visa stamped. If you plant to travel frequently, this adds up to quite some money and hassel. I had to get VAT for France and cost me $180 for myself and wife. But apart from this one issue, using AP is clearly easy and a good alternative as you can also maintain H1. I am giving it a strong consideration and will decide if I should cancel my Visa appointment. Will see more feedback and decide.
About couple of weeks ago my employer had arranged a, life after AOS with our attorney and in their presentation they clearly mentioned that if you have AP don't go for visa stamping waste cople of days of your life.
Correct me if my attorney is wrong and if there is any advantage in getting the visa stamped.

Guys,
Please refrain from fighting on EB3 and EB2 issue. We all know how difficult retrogression has been to every one here. As some one has already said, If interfiling was so easy and every one was fortunate enough to file another Labor/140, EB-2 would have been in 2002 or along with EB-3. AFAIK, Interfiling is some thing the law allows and as long as one does what the system allows and is not gaming the system, its perfectly fine. Don't rub salt on others wounds. Do what you can to improve the system. IMO, the backward movement was a knee jerk reaction to the false demand, shown by USCIS with a huge movement in PD. As you may know, this is purely demand and supply based DOS will move dates forward as soon as they realize that there is not much demand. DOS keeps track of all visa number requests and approvals based on PD's. The problem is DOS just does not know how many applications are pending per country per category to stop the back and forth movement of dates and make the date movement strictly forward. DOS clearly made this a requirement in OCT 08 bulletin and lets see what happens in the next few months. 2nd Q will be key as the over flow will start to trickle based on demand in EB-1+EB-4+EB-5

Not everyone is an economic refugee and it should never be assumed to be the case or status quo. We pay taxes just like everyone else while some invest here and have a right to be represented by whomever makes decisions in congress besides we do pay taxes that goes towards their salaries and maintaining congressional offices. What would the US be like if the founders of immigrant founded or co-founded companies had decided to found their companies in other countries ? What if Google, Ebay, Intel were Russian, French or Hungarian companies instead ? Your point is not lost though, immigration is a priviledge not a right. If they deny us this priviledge we shall reluctantly leave but it should not assumed that we shall be the one's to suffer instead this economy will feel that impact. This is a global economy with many opportunities out there.

I never have and never will like the idea of being asked to pay, I give what I can unasked. What of the people that by circumstance do currently not have these amounts of money to spare. I should not have to feel excluded nor should I have to explain my very personal reasons why to everyone.
Have you guys looked in the forums lately, people are getting "yelled" at and talked to rudely if they do not disclose how much exactly they have contributed. So we are only allowed to an opinion or help if we have money?
I will contribute when I have money to spare, however it seems I will have to leave this organization based on the comments that have been out there before I get to the point where I can afford to contribute. That goes for both time and money, some of us have responsibilities that we do not want to disclose.

just presenting a possible reason why what paskal proposed in his post does not work well in IV.......its not a question of whether phone calls are important or not....its a question of making a significant number of forum stakeholders (and not 1-2%) get to act on any initiative......fund raising/ calling efforts etc....
i genuinely believe that the core members go above and beyond whats expected to do what they are doing for IV - its truly remarkable...they all have busy lives and it takes great conviction and dedication to take the time out and do this...but why are the people still not responding despite the obvious pitfalls of not acting on GC related initiatives.......
maybe its lethargy, inaction, indifference etc.......but we should be open to considering that just maybe, a vast and silent majority of IVians do not feel a sense of representation in the organization and hence do not react as enthusiastically as they should........legitimacy among the constituents often comes with representation
why did most kingdoms around the world perish and give way to democracies......bcos the kings taxed the public based on their whims and fancies......elected govts may do the same but people still pay up and if they dont agree - they know they have a choice at the next elections.......
and no, i dont deserve to be the CEO - neither do i have a performance track record nor credibility here......should not stop me from voicing a contrarion view though

Nobody here exactly knows why the participation rate is less. Some of reasons could be:
i have my EAD, thats more than enough for me
i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.

i am in my I-140 or PERM stage, why should i bother now?
i don't think GC process is a big problem, i am sure i will get one day
i don't care. I will sit and watch others do this for me
I will not blame the core members. I understand their Vision and it aligns with mine. How do you enforce a vision in IV community when the participation is less?
How can any action survive with 100-200 members participation? look at numbersusa and learn from their strengths.
Having said that, i have a few suggestions though. Lets talk to our friends and relativies, understand their concerns/issues and communicate IV's vision to them in a better way and get them to participate.
Lets set some intermediate goals to track our progress.
