Here's an anecdote -
This was back in the late 80s, when I was growing up - in Bangalore.
India had just lost the Finals of a well fought [field] hockey match to Pakistan. We were all very disappointed by the loss, but it saddened me further to see a victory procession with waving Pakistani flags in the Muslim parts of the City.
Ofcourse, India is a secular country and more so the United States.. and you can cheer whoever you please..
But, If you chose to become a US Citizen, and US were in a battle with your country of Origin (let's narrow it down to Sports, to keep it less complicated), which country would you side? If I chose to side with my country of origin, it would make me a hypocrite, wouldn't it ?

HLG has confirmed that the CIS is not returning I-485 Applications back to those who filed I-485 during the first week of July. This is leading many to speculate that the CIS may reverse course and re-re-amend the July Visa Bulletin; whether the Visa Bulletin actually reopens remains to be seen. HLG normally refrains from commenting on rumors, but we have talked to several Washington insiders and believe that this is seriously being considered.

I would say...
1. Recapture lost numbers
2. Increase in visa numbers/yr
3. Remove dependent count
These three will definelty remove retrogression, and per country cap removal is not possible may be but above three can work.

I think that is what they will do in order not to look like fools.
the question is, What happens to those july filers whose applications have not been returned yet and who will become current in the next bulletin.
Will USCIS ask them for the new fees.... Will they have to do all paperwork again including medicals.....what a mess!
It will be even interesting for cases that are not returned but will not be current in next bulletin. Your medical reports are valid for one year.

Congratulations on your citizenship. I am happy for you. But, in what ways can you help? I very curious to know. I have been following your post and so far I am still optimistic for your grand help that you have been talking about through out.
I know the power of citizenship. My wife's father passed away last year in September. Her AP application was pending. We took an infopass appointment to get an emergency AP, and met an officer who was really rude. In essence the officer told us that she can not do anything on humanitarian basis and point blank asked us to go and talk to the Congress.
And that's what we did. We asked one of our friend who is citizen to help. She took my case details and the officer's badge number. She personally talked to local congressman and senator's office. They initiated an inquiry with USCIS, quoting the officer's statement and the badge number ... Three days later we got a call from local USCIS office, filled with sympathy and full of remorse. A week later we got her AP document.
So a citizen can really help. Please make your contact details available, so that when emergency arises, you can help them by contacting the congressman or senators.

Since this discussion has been going on for 5 pages, i thought ill add my 2c.
Firstoff i haven't gone through all 5 pages so if someone already mentioned this, please don't jump on me. You can create an SBI account called SWIFT account. They will give you an account number and a SWIFT code for the bank.
You can then initiate a wire transfer from any bank in the US. They charge a flat rate of around 35-45$. The good part is, you can have the money sent in $ to your local account. They say it takes 3 days but it never takes more than one day for me.
The money is saved in FD as dollars and earns you interest if you leave it for 11 months. If you need to convert it any time, you have to forgo the interest (as with any FD) and you can get the closing exchange rate of the previous day.
This has many advantages
1) one simple fee of 35$
2) In case you want to bring back the money to the us, since it is kept as dollars, you can transfer it back without any hassle. (To keep it in dollars , you may have to provide this as a special instruction)
3) Folks back home have control on exchange rate, they can cash it any time it is high
4) Takes less than a day in most cases.
If you do the math, you will see that this is better than icici when you are sending 4000$ or more approx. icici does not take fees upfront but they always give you almost 50p less than exchange rate.
I have used this 4 times so far and its very reliable.
Thanks.
There are some banks (e.g. Washington Mutual Bank) that offer Free outgoing wire transfer for both domestic as well as International.
Just FYI and I suggest that you do your research before acting on it.

I am have been on /off with my pay roll’s. I am still with my Green card sponsored company.
It’s almost 9 months since i got my GC. At the time of citizenship
How does USCIS verify the length of stay with the petition employer? Are they going to see the pay stubs or Length of the stay or a letter from employer….
plz help me.....
Sorry I missed your question before. My take on your situation is that you are good, and do not worry too much about USCIS's way of doing things. Did your company serve you any temporary suspension/reinstatement notice(s) coinciding with these payroll gaps? If not, and I would guess not (because that would reflect poorly on the company's health), your story means that as per your original employment letter, you have been with your employer continuously for 9 months after GC, and presumably longer (you did not say about any plan of leaving them soon), even though you are not being paid regularly. If anything, such payroll discontinuity should help establish your intention of remaining with your employer despite the hardship, if this issue comes up during citizenship interview. On your part, you should keep a detailed log of the dates you missed payments, in addition to all relevant papers (this goes back to DO item #3 in my list).
On your question about how USCIS verifies the length of stay with GC-sponsoring employer, my guess would be that for simple cases, they probably go by the employment letter or W2 etc. (something that has a single start date, and may/not have an end date). But if there are complicating factors, like your payroll gaps, and if USCIS comes to know about them (e.g. you tell them), they may ask your company to furnish evidence of payment history, such as copies of all relevant pay stubs (a simple letter from your employer may not suffice).
Chin up, please. You have your GC, which already makes you privileged compared to so many deserving folks still waiting long and hard. So, go hit the pub, shoot some pool, smell a rose, call up your fiance(e), take family on a Bahama cruise, tweak your boss's nose, kick some butt, write a(nother) check to IV, or whatever it is that you use as a release mechanism from such unnecessary tension :)
Cheers,

I agree. These ETFs are too risky. With so many pros in the game nothing is easy nowadays. As you had mentioned in one of your post, the market for individuals is as close to gambling as it gets.
If you cannot make trading your profession then Invest don't trade. Or trade options where you don't have to watch tick by tick.
Hey guys who are scolding us that this is not related to immigration- Common cut us some slack. Can we discuss just immigration 365 days when we are the only ones doing it and policy makers dont care about us? We will go nuts doing it. What is the harm if we all discuss other stuff. Maybe there could be a seperate thread or something for discussing non immigration stuff. As a community we should be able to discuss and share other stuff than just our frustrations.

once the rule is published in the federal register and ppl have commented on it...its pretty much set to go
Is it already published in the federal register? Where can we comment on it? We should all go to say some good things about it.

Congrats Vikki76,
I am happy for you. As i said, earlier, i called and explained 2 I140's situation, IO verified and told they have already consolidated A numbers and it is current, will send an email to floor. She also confirmed biometrics and Namecheck are cleared as well. I struggled with that part since, they went vermont cause of EAC receipt number....
This is a complex system for the ability and knowledge they have...
